We know that the US has an invested interest in Iraq’s oil.
We know that Iran had a strong hold on the Iraqi government. They were smuggling USD and IQD out of Iraq. Iran has been an issues for years for many decades. By Trump taking out their leadership and now targeting their oil, it sets us and Iraq up for even more success.
