“Rising…” by Michael Murdock – 6.6.21

Entry Submitted by Michael Murdock at 7:18 PM EDT on June 6, 2021

Rising 77 years ago today, over 156,000 troops put their lives on the line and landed on the beaches of the Normandy coast in France. Code named Omaha, Utah, Juno, Gold & Sword, these names would echo through the ages as names of places where young soldiers hit the sands and shot and stabbed their way through the German fortifications to free the country of France from the Nazis, and to bring FREEDOM to FRANCE and the globe from the millions led by Adolph Hitler. Today, we rise and remember their sacrifice for all of us.

They were 16, 17, 18, and other ages as well. They had no computers, no cellphones, no pagers, and no fear in their eyes as they left the landing craft, hit the beaches and advanced forward surprising the Nazis and even as many died there, there were those who survived to tell the tales of heroism.

I thank them all this day for their sacrifice, and for their bravery in the face of danger. Their love of GOD, COUNTRY, OUR FLAG, and FREEDOM went with them as they went up against immense odds and they ended up winning and bringing freedom to many.

God bless their memory. Think of that when you rise to meet the challenges of each day on the way to the exchanges. Think of that when you come up against something that you feel you cannot overcome. Think of that when someone tells you that you are less than. Think of that when someone tells you that you cannot achieve something in your lifetime. Think of those who pressed forward and in some cases whose last thoughts were of their loved ones right before they took their last breath that day…June 6th, 1944.

I think of all of you and I pray for all of you this day. I pray for those whose relatives are still alive from that time in our lives. I pray that they are proud of their loved ones and that they remember them this day also.

The picture is one of mine that I took at sunrise recently when I woke after sleeping the night away in the car. I’m grateful for being able to wake and to take the image, and now I am grateful to share it with you. I call it “RISING” as the sun was rising to greet the world and provide us with an amazing day.

God Bless you this day and always.

Michael Murdock, US NAVY VETERAN or $veteran on CASHAPP or Michael-Murdock-22 on VENMO, if you’d like to help me with gas or some food this coming week. Thanks in advance for any that wish to help out.
