Yesterday, Allison B. posted “Hey You” – IDC Musical Thought, and at the beginning was a picture of a silhouette of a female warrior with a sword in her hand. It captivated me when I first saw it, but even more so after I read my way through what she had posted, and then finally unexpectedly surprised when she “Thanked” me at the bottom.
I was puzzled as to why she did that, why single me out? I’m not special, I’m not doing anything that anyone who loves their country, loves their family and friends, despises tyranny in all its forms, wouldn’t do…..But then again, maybe I’m wrong about that.
I’ve got a lot of friends who also love their country, their families and friends, and aren’t fond of Despots, but they don’t research, do a blog, write into websites, post comments, go to community meetings, and voice their opinions to anyone who will listen. As a matter of fact most of them don’t say a d--n----d, and another matter of fact, I can only think of one, and that is a former enlisted Marine friend of mine who helps me with my blog.
When you break it all down, that’s one friend out of at least 40 family and friends. One. All the others are at different levels of being “awake” and being “engaged”, but most keep quiet.
I guess I never really thought about it like that before. Why me? What’s inside us that drives us, devotes us to self preservation, why others just seemingly lay down and take it, like they’re on Thorazine?
The more I thought about it the more I realized that we’re a special breed, Hell, we’re the Paul Revere’s of our time. Not only that, we were “appointed” for this time and selected by God himself. We were chosen for this specific task at this specific time to educate, enlighten and explain what it is we’re going through right now, which is nothing short of the greatest event in human history! Each of us doing our part, however big or small, “…to set brushfires of freedom into the minds of men”, to partially quote Sam Adams
So to Allison B., “No, I THANK YOU!!!!” And to everyone else who exudes the courage to stand up for their convictions on IDC, and in other ways, I THANK YOU AS WELL!!, because together we cannot fail.
And to any of you out there still on the sidelines, it’s time to get in the game, stop sitting on the couch and watching everyone else do the heavy lifting. At what point are you going to have the insight to see that “YOU’RE SILENCE IS YOUR CONSENT?”
