Hello IDC family,
Yesterday I received some bad news. At the end of November, a friend who has been letting me stay in her home between dog sits for free has to move back east from here. This place of shelter that I have been able to stay in out of some really bad weather will no longer be available as winter begins to head to Arizona. Now some might think…it never gets cold here, but in reality, it has snowed here in the past so it’s definitely a different climate to get used to. That’s the bad news. Discussions are still going on about the exchanges opening following the Thanksgiving holiday, so that’s better news to focus and pray on.
Today I decided to help my friend hold a garage sale. She posted some announcements and in a few hours, a ton of things got sold. She offered to pay me a few hundred for helping her, but my heart would not let me accept the money from her because she’s elderly and moving and needs every penny she has to get her where she will be going.
I shared that with some other people who told me I was a fool for turning down the money. But when I shared that she’d been allowing me to stay in the home for free, they seemed to understand why I did what I did. To me it feels good to not accept anything from her, but just to help her as much as I can, so I will be doing that to give back.
Helping others when they don’t have the ability to help you is something good in the way of the universe to help good karma flow. It felt really good to take the time to give back, lifting the heavy things, helping the people who showed up to get things into their cars and the smiles on their faces at the bargains they got were priceless.
Have you ever reached out to help someone when you knew they didn’t have the means to help you back? How did that make you feel when you did that? Were you excited? Scared? What moved you forward when you didn’t have the strength to move forward on your own? Did you feel the spirit flowing within you to give back?
Anyway, I wanted to share this with all of you in case you have a chance sometime to help someone with something and know they may not be able to help you back, perhaps you’ll be inspired to help.
God Bless You All.
