BEWARE IF YOU OWN ONE OF THESE OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO DOES!!
Good Morning from Arizona. This message is for any and all of you who might own one of these types of vehicles. BEWARE of thieves that will want to steal parts off of them.
What parts specifically? Well just about any of them, but many people will be looking to steal the catalytic converter off of your prized possession. How long does it take to get one off of this type of motorhome? You’d be surprised to learn that the average time to remove one is under 3 minutes (according to someone in the repair business for these things) using a battery pack and a rechargeable saw that anyone can buy at a Home Depot or Lowe’s. They then take these things and resell them for whatever they can get from someone else who will resell them to a motorhome owner who shows up with one missing from their vehicle.
Just 48 hours ago in broad daylight I was able to stop two thieves from stealing one from a motorhome that I know the owners of. Sadly I wasn’t able to stop them from sawing it off the vehicle, but they didn’t get away with the part. I retrieved it and turned it over to the owner of the motorhome after scaring both the driver and his partner in crime out of their skin.
These thieves travel in pairs, one will remain in their car or SUV and keep it running so that they can saw the part off and then dash away before anyone notices. I was blessed to notice and intervened. Do your best to get the license and description of the vehicle to make others aware, or even call the police or post onto a network of neighborhood watch sites.
One thing to note, this motorhome was parked next to an alleyway that provided easy access to slip under it, saw off the part, and then slip back out and into the escape car. If you park your Motorhome in your driveway, or on the street itself, it may discourage these types of activities from happening.
Please share this information with anyone you think may benefit from reading it.
Best regards,
