Coping with the loss of a loved one or loved pet…

I was checking my email the other day, when out of the blue I received a call from a girl (now a woman) I’d not spoken to since high school. They had gotten my number through another friend and reached out to me because “I was always available in school to listen when someone had a problem”. I was stunned to hear from someone I’d not spoken to in 43 years. What stunned me most was what was shared next. She was calling because a cat that she had owned for 15 years had passed away and she didn’t know anyone else she could turn to who would understand that level of loss. I was humbled by this call, we talked for more than an hour, and when we hung up it hit me.

There are times when people experience loss that they have no where to turn. I’m not saying I am the perfect person for this, but I have found something helped me get started on the path to understanding as well as reflection, and finally letting go of the loss and turning it into happiness for the fact that when life is over here I will see that person, or that pet once again and we will share eternal life together and get to see all the wonderful things that are beyond this existence. At least that’s my understanding of how things work. Everyone is entitled to their own view and I completely respect that.

I’m going to share two pictures with some amazing words. Both have helped me in times when I needed them, I hope that they will help you. Once you have them, feel free to share them with others who you know might need some comfort and some knowing in a time of need.

First, if you have lost a loved one, this speaks volumes for times when anniversaries of that passing come around. When the anniversaries of my parents passings come around, I read this one after I pray and it helps me get through the day.

And this next one is for a pet, if you’ve lost one or know someone who has lost one. I know when the anniversary of the passing of my dog comes around 10 days before Christmas, this one helps me a lot.

God bless you all.
Best regards,
