“Insurance Choices…” by Michael Murdock – 7.2.22

As this weekend moves into the fun times, something to remember in your lives is INSURANCE. Whether it’s for CAR, HOME, LIFE, LONG TERM CARE (if offered), etc.

After 38 years with USAA, I had to take the steps of ending that after through circumstances I was approached by an agent from State Farm who asked if they could give me a quote on insurance. I thought well, in all these years, NO ONE has been able to beat what USAA does so why not. I was wrong. State Farm came back and not only beat the quote, they end up under the new policy saving me $300 per year that I don’t have to pay USAA any longer which is great considering I don’t have the money to pay them as it is.

I took that information and went back to USAA thinking when they hear this they will beat that quote and want to keep me as a customer after 38 years with them. They didn’t. They got rude on the phone, and they said there was no way they could compete with the quote from State Farm and said they understood if I wanted to cancel my policies with them. I did so and now State Farm will be providing me the same protections that I had with USAA with a lower deductible.

The point I’m trying to make here is we get comfortable with the way things are and we don’t want to disrupt them because we think we can never do better. Service with USAA went downhill when COVID started. From what I’ve heard from others, State Farm has maintained their level of service and support all through this thing we’ve been exposed to.

Check with your providers and see if you can save some money along your way and get the same or better levels of service, I hope each of you are able to save a ton of money on all of your Insurance needs.

Lastly, be careful if someone tries to sell you long term care insurance saying it covers everything for your loved ones. The majority of those policies do not cover even 1/4 of the expenses involved in long term care of adults, alzheimer’s patients, etc. (and yes I am speaking from experience in this, when I took care of both of my parents from 2011 – 2015, it cost over $300,000.00 even with long term care insurance.

To the haters who love to email me after I send an email out, I’ve taken the liberty of blocking your email addresses so that your hate mail never arrives. Sorry to cut you off, but your negative energy will stay with you where it belongs.

Have a Happy & Safe 4th IDC!!!

God bless!
