A midst a political stalemate, Sadr’s followers are preparing for a two million event
Amid the continuing political impasse in Iraq, the followers of the Sadrist movement continue to sit in the Iraqi parliament for the fifth day in a row.

According to the statement issued by the Minister of the Leader of the Sadrist Movement, Saleh Muhammad al-Iraqi, al-Sadr stressed, on Tuesday, that “the permanence of the sit-in is very important to achieve your demands, and the sit-in must be organized in the form of meals, with the momentum of the numbers remaining at specific times.”

Al-Sadr called for early elections to be held after the current parliament was dissolved, but he said he had not decided whether or not to run for them.
He added that “the malicious lawsuits obstructed the formation of the majority government.” With regard to the dialogue initiatives put forward by the various political blocs, Al-Sadr said, “There is no point in having dialogue with them. Dialogue with them has been tried and tested, and nothing will befall the country but ruin and dependence,” referring to the forces of the coordinating framework.
