Gold, that barbarous relic, that shiny yellow rock. For some reason, the price is getting dangerously close to breaking out to fresh new all-time highs. And for some reason, central banks have been trying to prevent this from happening for a long time now. And for some reason, central banks are now buying gold at a faster pace than they’ve bought gold for the last 70 years.
So why now? Well, we are going to get clues from this by looking at the last time something very similar happened.
