Is your job at stake right now, for your sake? I certainly hope not. But that is the reality that many Americans are facing right now. Websites like Layoffs.fyi show layoffs by month and by quarter in terms of employees and layoffs. Shows a massive number of layoffs into the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.
Even though they cut 11,000 jobs last November, they are already talking about starting another round of thousands of layoffs.
A medical device company called Medtronic has begun layoffs around the world. Retail stores like David’s Bridal have started mass layoffs. Law firms have begun layoffs. Financial services like Ernst & Young have started layoffs, and RBC as well.
We are also seeing upcoming job losses from business closures, such as U.S. auto sales, which is a car dealer for people with poor credit.
They have closed their dealership space and will obviously have job losses as a result. So, what is going on here? Why are we seeing such a surge in layoffs recently, especially considering during 2020 and 2021, it seemed like companies could not hire fast enough?
