For many days now it has been reporting that the Federal Reserve dollar is no longer accepted anywhere in the world “except for the US, Canada and Mexico.”

Well, that would be news to folks here in Brazil, as it definitely ain’t the case! Just yesterday I exchanged some dollars for Brazilian reias, and no one batted an eye when I handed over a fistful of Fed dollars.

The cambios (money exchange centers) here are also SELLING dollars. Currently the price appears to be locked in at 5-to-1 (i.e. one US dollar costs 5 Brazilian dollars).

Anyway, just thought some of you might like to know the truth—that the US dollar is still strong here in Brazil, and it IS being traded.

Sincerely,

OWL TK  (One Who’d Like To Know)
