REVEALING GOLD’S POWER AS A RESERVE CURRENCY

One of the significant developments this week was the revelation that Malaysia is actively exploring the gold dinar as a potential new reserve currency.  

The Prime Minister of Malaysia said:  

“If we can get between five and six percent with Islamic countries [using dinar], it would be a positive start as it provides strength and reduces dependency on the U.S. dollar…”  

I have covered this topic before, focusing on Islamic countries and gold.

In April, we learned that China is willing to discuss the establishment of an Asian Monetary Fund with Malaysia to reduce its dependence on the dollar.

CFPB accelerates US open banking with new data rule

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has proposed its long-awaited open banking rule in the hopes of improving competition in the US banking and payments sector.

The proposed Personal Financial Data Rights rule activates the dormant Section 1033 of the Dodd-Frank Act, which was enacted by Congress more than a decade ago. This means consumer financial service providers are required to share data at the user’s direction with other companies in the ecosystem that offer more attractive products and services.

The ASEAN countries in Asia are beginning to make a change in the way they do trades. They are switching their dollars for local currencies to build up their own Sovereign Nation’s Economies.

Local Currency Settlement Framework Agreements are being signed everywhere.

This will increase demand and value for these countries’ currencies. The movement away from the dollar in trade is increasing.

Late last year,

China’s President urged Gulf nations to utilize the Shanghai Petroleum and National Gas Exchange for yuan settlement in the oil and gas industry.
