In this video, Peter talks about how Japan faces stagflation for the first time since the 1970s, with economic indicators flashing red as the country navigates between inflationary pressures and recessionary forces. Amid super-low interest rates and a weakening yen, Japan grapples with rising import costs and stagnant wages—challenges that are only compounded by recent aggressive wage hikes across various sectors. Peter delves into Japan’s economic predicament, examining the interplay between monetary policy, wage negotiations, and the potential for a global financial crisis reminiscent of historical economic downturns.

Recently, a mysterious “anonymous investor” has been making headlines, with rumors suggesting they plan to acquire failed banks. This investor is not an individual but a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) known as Porticoes Capital. SPACs, also known as “blank check companies,” have become increasingly popular recently. They are essentially shell corporations listed on a stock exchange with the purpose of acquiring a private company, thus making it public without going through the traditional initial public offering (IPO) process. Porticoes Capital, the SPAC in question, has set its sights on failed banks. But why would an investment company want to acquire institutions that have been deemed unsuccessful?
