Thai government approves application to join BRICS

The country expects that the BRICS summit will accelerate the country’s accession to the association

According to the Bangkok Post, citing cabinet spokesman Chai Wacharonke, Thailand intends to join the group.

The application notes that BRICS membership will enhance Thailand’s international influence and provide additional opportunities to participate in shaping the n-------------r.

Wacharonke added that BRICS has invited countries wishing to join to attend the 16th summit of the association, which will be held from 22 to 24 October in Kazan. This will accelerate Thailand’s accession to BRICS, he said.

South African Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Naledi Pandor said that Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Venezuela, Vietnam, Cuba, Honduras, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait and other countries have also applied to join BRICS.
