This is very big in terms of international cooperation with Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has been pursuing rapid development of its coastal cities as part of Vision 2030 – their plan to diversify the economy beyond oil. Something Iraq is doing as well.
Jeddah is particularly significant as it’s Saudi Arabia’s main port city and the gateway for Muslim pilgrims heading to Mecca. Jeddah itself is symbolically important – it’s considered more culturally liberal by Saudi standards and has been a focus of the kingdom’s efforts to attract international tourism and business.
A Trump-branded property there would align with Saudi Arabia’s push to establish itself as a luxury tourism and business destination. Saudi Arabia has been strategically investing in high-profile Western brands and properties through various channels, including the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
These aren’t just random investments – they’re part of a calculated effort to build global business ties and influence. The UAE and Saudi Arabia in particular have used real estate and luxury developments as a way to cement relationships.
