Why activating the 2008 U.S.-Iraq SFA is bullish for IQD
1. It helps remove Iran’s tentacles from Iraq by boosting U.S.-Iraq counterterrorism cooperation against Iranian-backed militias & proxies all while preserving full Iraqi sovereignty.
2. It drives critical banking reforms and financial modernization.
3. It accelerates economic diversification away from oil dependence through deeper U.S. investment and trade ties.
This is a positive sign of al-Zaidi’s cooperation with Washington.
