Venezuela gonna adopt new exchange rate

Venezuela’s government says it will send more U.S. dollars from oil sales into banks to stabilize the exchange rate and support the bolívar instead of letting the economy fully switch to dollars. But despite these promises, inflation and currency devaluation have badly weakened workers’ salaries and purchasing power.

The act president of Venezuela also stated:

“The policy is to strengthen our monetary sovereignty.”
And
“The bolívar is and will remain the bastion of our monetary sovereignty.”

So while the government allows dollars to circulate, the message from Delcy Rodríguez is:

1- Venezuela does not want official dollarization,
2- the government wants to keep the bolívar as the main national currency,
3- and dollar inflows should be used to stabilize and support Venezuela’s own economy and currency rather than replace it.

Venezuela’s government is stepping up dollar sales and allowing the bolivar to WEAKEN, narrowing the gap with the parallel market and easing pressure on inflation.
