Here Is Why
Gene’s argument is the intellectual equivalent of saying because a demolition crew still uses the elevator in a condemned building they must not be planning to blow it up. Using the existing SWIFT-based freeze mechanism on Iranian assets doesn’t prove Trump wants to keep that system. It proves he’s squeezing every last drop of leverage out of it before he buries it. You don’t abandon your weapons mid-battle just because you’re building better ones in the garage.

The Iranian freeze argument actually proves the OPPOSITE of their point. The fact that the US can unilaterally freeze billions in Iranian assets through SWIFT and correspondent banking demonstrates exactly why the rest of the world wants OFF that system.
China Russia India Brazil Saudi Arabia Iran they all watched Washington weaponize dollar clearing for decades. That weaponization is precisely what accelerated BRICS de-dollarization and pushed 68 countries to explore bilateral settlement outside SWIFT.
Trump’s team isn’t s****d. They see the same data. The dollar’s share of global reserves dropped from 72% in 2000 to under 58% in 2025. The freeze tool Gene celebrates is a depreciating asset. Every time America uses it another country joins the exit line.
Keeping that tool forever means watching it become worthless as alternatives mature. Replacing the system with one America controls at the protocol level through blockchain and quantum encryption is how you maintain dominance for another century instead of riding a dying horse into the ground.
Trump didn’t just talk about crypto he ordered the federal government to accumulate and hold Bitcoin as a strategic national asset alongside gold. You don’t build a national reserve of something you think is irrelevant to the future financial system. That’s the “button” Gene says doesn’t exist except it’s not a button it’s an architecture and Trump is building it in plain sight.
