Dinarland Highlights – 10.23.26

The news I am getting starting last night is very upbeat. Bond contacts believe if there isn’t some kind of movement by Friday morning they would be stunned…they seem to be even more excited now then they were last week…If bond contacts are right – we will have a very good weekend…[that once the bond holders go, we, currency holders, will follow soon after.]

The new 1520 is to help control or get rid of the parallel market, something that the IMF has consulted with Iraq just recently on again. But why did the IMF come out now at this time and recommend this action of a devaluation of the dinar? This devaluation is not loss hope for us and the reinstatement. Actually, it is a bright side if your glass is half full...There are…basic reasons…1) An attempt to create revenue out of thin air by devaluing the dinar since Iraq had lost nearly $60 billion from when the closing of the Strait of Hormuz…2) Trying to prepare for the removing of the zeros just as they said would most likely begin in the first quarter of 2027…3) The CBI wants to collect these stashes of cash outside the banking system while executing the project to delete the zeros…
…the three zero notes will actually stay as valid currency for some time after the project to remove the zeros, only they will be restricted tightly in their use. They are NOT going to null and void altogether them like they did with the Saddam Hussen notes… If all is successful, they plan then to move to FOREX with a new basket of currencies as the new dinar peg…our notes outside Iraq will be completely exchangeable at the rate on FOREX when reinstated.

The holders at risk in any exchange window are the unprepared and the late: no documentation, no banking relationship, and a deadline suddenly close. Every part of that is avoidable now…Prepare so the length of the [exchange] window never matters – relationships opened early, documentation ready, and a plan to convert within a short time once the event is live…
A survey of 1,000 wealthy investors found most of them spoke to one adviser, their currency one, before handing over everything…It is the equivalent of buying the first house you walk into. The money took decades to make the decision about who touches it took a single conversation. That asymmetry is the most expensive habit in private wealth.

The US and Iran had a war through the first half of this year. Iraq did not close their borders one time for the war…As of Wednesday the 24th…they said they’re closing their borders so f**e counterfeit currency does not make it into the country of Iraq. Why would that be a concern now? Only if the rate is gong to change. They don’t want to allow counterfeit currency to be exchanged for new, smaller, lower notes…You can see how close we are. Very unique critical things are happening right now that have never happened before.
Don’t follow that terrible advice specifically requesting a De La Rue [brand machine at the bank]. It’s not too sharp because it could close a door in your face. What you care about is that they have a currency counting machine that does the three steps – count, sort and authenticate. [Otherwise], it might limit the amount of banks you give yourself options with.

What is JP Morgan doing in Iraq? One of the most powerful banks in the world is making moves in Iraq. We’re talking about JP Morgan Chase, a banking giant with trillions of dollars in assets …What does JP Morgan know about Iraq’s financial future that the rest of us don’t? And more importantly what could this mean for the Iraqi dinar? In July of 2026 an agreement for JP Morgan Chase to establish a branch in the country [was made]…JP Morgan isn’t coming to Iraq to open an ordinary neighborhood bank. This plan is to help finance major projects involving American companies…and potentially billions of dollars in investment activity…Could JP Morgan’s involvement help strengthen the Iraqi dinar? Potentially yes over time…We do not have independent confirmation JP Morgan’s proposed Iraqi branch is officially open and operating.

Question:
“Do you think ALL banks will eventually exchange the Dinar?”
Thom: I don’t. In fact, I was speaking with a personal friend of mine from church who works at CHASE Private client. There is special licensing involved. Major banks will likely be OK. Smaller ones like TRUIST have already told me they will not.

There were a bunch of comments… I think they’re jaded, tired and over it. They were commenting, Stephen…’we’ve been hearing all this stuff forever now. What’s going to change…?’ As someone who has been in this for a decade+ if you can’t look at the last 6 months and see how much Iraq has accomplished and the leaps and bounds they have made… then I don’t know what to tell you. Sell your dinar. Get rid of it. Get off the emotional roller coaster…Try to practice emotional regulation when it comes to this investment…I hope and pray we have a rate change sooner rather than later but no one knows for sure. That’s why you have to be mature in this investment …I’m 99% positive this is going to be one of the largest wealth events in my lifetime.
