Executive Brief | Brad Garlinghouse at Ripple Swell
October 28, 2026
Brad Garlinghouse’s central message was that crypto’s momentum is accelerating, and Ripple’s responsibility is to turn that momentum into practical benefits for customers, the XRP ecosystem, and the broader economy. Reflecting on a decade of progress—from Toronto to today—he described an industry moving toward greater maturity, institutional participation, and real-world utility.
With e*******s approaching, Garlinghouse emphasized that technology should transcend partisan politics. Email serves people regardless of political affiliation; financial technology should receive the same bipartisan consideration. His discussion of Fairshake reinforced the importance of political engagement, while his recognition of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s attendance underscored the significance of government participation. He wants Ripple to be a shining light through global leadership.
He highlighted the breadth of American crypto ownership, pointing to 67 million adults and Ripple’s support for the National Cryptocurrency Association. He criticized policies associated with Elizabeth Warren as harmful to economic opportunity and recognized the XRP Army as a leading light. His broader message was clear: the genie is out of the bottle, and demonstrating useful applications will extend the benefits throughout the ecosystem and the world.
Ripple’s business growth provided a concrete measure of that progress. Garlinghouse outlined an expected annualized revenue run rate of $900 million by the end of 2026, compared with $300 million the previous year. Continued growth centers on customers, transaction volume, acquisitions, and bringing more financial activity onchain. He also praised Monica Long’s performance and leadership.
RLUSD is an important part of that strategy. Garlinghouse emphasized compliance, institutional trust, lending applications, and the ability to move collateral around the clock. These capabilities support a financial system that operates continuously, beyond traditional business hours. The larger objective is an Internet of Value, with XRP at its heart.
He presented RLUSD and XRP as complementary. RLUSD brings dollar liquidity onchain and supports activity across the ecosystem, while Ripple remains committed to XRP. Three priorities frame that commitment: greater liquidity, more utility, and stronger trust. Together, these strengthen the infrastructure needed to address financial use cases globally.

Discussing competition, Garlinghouse described Coinbase as a consumer exchange, Circle through its payments focus, and Ripple as a bridge between established finance and the emerging onchain economy. Ripple’s institutional relationships and expanding capabilities support that position. He welcomed an industry in which broader adoption creates opportunities for everyone.
The remaining opportunity is substantial. Institutional participation in crypto is still limited, and allocations among participating institutions remain small. Corporate treasury, collateral movement, payments, and other financial activities offer considerable room for expansion as more assets and liquidity move onchain.
Brad closed with confidence in the industry’s health and direction. He described tremendous momentum and expressed pride, excitement, and focus. His message was that continued e*******n – serving customers, demonstrating utility, and earning trust – will determine how broadly this progress benefits the world.
My KUWL Take: A very small percentage of institutions are crypto engaged globally, and of those who are, have committed extremely small sums of capital – so far. There is nothing but MASSIVE Upside Growth in Liquidity, Utility and Trust, the world over. XRPL, RLUSD, XRP are non-negotiable elements of the worlds most critical monetary system emerging today.
