Iraq’s Central Bank Denies Printing New Notes

By Reset Intelligence | @EXIT_FIAT

On Thursday the governor of Iraq’s Central Bank, Nizar Nasser Hussein, told parliament’s Investment and Development Committee that talk of new banknotes being printed is inaccurate. There is no printing, he said, and the gap between the bank’s dollar price and the street’s is down from 24% to 9%.

In August, lawmakers who sat with the bank described the new series as designed and ordered. Days later the bank denied it.

The tell

Be exact about what he denied: printing. Nothing in parliament’s account of the meeting touches the dinar’s value, the zeros or the exchange itself. A note exchange only works if the cash comes to the counter, and announcing one early hands illicit money time to get out first.

What moved this week

• Binance – attackers drained hot wallets at the world’s largest crypto exchange on Thursday. Binance says $2.54 billion has been frozen while it investigates.

• Pentagon – freezer failures at commissaries on at least six US bases are now treated as a suspected cyberattack. Belgium’s tax agency pulled its online services after an attack the same week.

• Lagarde – the European Central Bank’s president will step down on February 7, 2027, 9 months early, with no reason given.

• Mar-a-Lago – short-range air defence now guards Trump’s Florida estate, at the Secret Service’s request. Trump called off his weekend rallies in Kansas and Iowa.

• Baghdad’s street – closed Thursday at 168,000 IQD for $100, against the bank’s 152,000.

The question

A week of attacks on the old systems, a central banker leaving early, and Baghdad denying notes its own lawmakers described. What is being cleared away, and what does it mean for the IQD you hold?
