CONFIRMED: THREE CENTRAL BANKS HAVE QUIETLY CLOSED THEIR DOLLAR SWAP LINES
A sovereign banking coordination office sent an internal closure notice through the encrypted channel at 12:04 EST.
It said: “Swap line closures confirmed. Three central banks. Effective 11:00 UTC. No replacement requested.”
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED:
1. THE CLOSURES
• Three central banks closed their dollar swap lines this morning. Not suspended. Closed. The lines that allowed them to borrow dollars in a crisis are gone
• The closures were not announced. They were logged. The difference matters. An announcement is a signal. A log is a fact
• No replacement was requested. That is the part that matters most. A bank that closes a swap line and asks for another is hedging. A bank that closes one and asks for nothing has already found an alternative
2. WHY THIS MATTERS
• Dollar swap lines were the plumbing of the global financial system. When a foreign bank needed dollars, it borrowed them through a swap line. When the swap lines close, the plumbing is removed
• The banks that closed their lines are not in crisis. They are in transition. They have already connected to the QFS rails. They do not need the dollar plumbing because they are no longer using dollars

• The dollar’s role as the world’s reserve currency was built on the swap line network. When the network shrinks, the role shrinks. Quietly. Permanently
3. WHAT REPLACES IT
• The QFS provides direct settlement in Rainbow Units. No swap line needed. No correspondent bank needed. No dollar needed
• The central banks that closed their lines are now settling directly with each other. The settlement takes seconds. The old system took days
• The dollar is still used for domestic trade in the United States. For now. The international plumbing is what is being removed
WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
• A fourth central bank that quietly closes its swap line without a statement
• A financial publication that notices the closures a week late and calls them “technical adjustments”
• A Treasury official who uses the word “confidence” more than once in the same sentence
For 80 years, the dollar swap line network was the backbone of global finance. This morning, three banks removed their connection to it. And asked for nothing in return.
FORWARD THIS POST TO SOMEONE WHO THINKS THE DOLLAR PLUMBING IS PERMANENT.
