Sir,
In theory, you are correct. In physical reality, you seem unaware of some technical facts which are independently verifiable. Particularly with regard to common means of transport “polluting us to oblivion” as you termed it.
Is there a problem? Yes. Is it gasoline cars? No.
As Stellantis ( maker of Dodge Hellcats, who just phased them.out in favor of EVs ) just noted publicly, there’s not enough lithium on earth for EVs. Likewise, Porsche and now Toyota have publicly declared the future of internal combustion, even knowing the ever more stringent regulations laid out for the years ahead. GM just invested nearly a billion dollars in a new generation of V8s.
Even back in the early 1990s, Honda had one R&D car that ran so clean, that what came out it’s tailpipe was cleaner than what was going into the engine. That tech has been in every new Honda sold worldwide for over a decade now. They can provide proof if you require it. And it’s not just Honda.
Even GMs current 6.2L V8, every version of it, meets the same Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle standard as all those shizzy Hondas.
I have my wife’s dead Honda in my driveway, beside my running-fine Suburban.

The EV is not ready to replace the gasoline engine, it is a novelty for the rich, and those who don’t budget intelligently. The electric Ford F150 has failed every trailer towing test it has been submitted to. That tech isn’t viable.
Even if all the above wasn’t so, there’s still the matter of laws that today’s corporate Congress can’t lawfully change. Only a re-creation, by we the civilians, of our continental Congress, could change American Common Law. There has not been any of that since the unauthorized, therefore unlawful, incorporations that started in 1860 and went public in the fraudulent municipal Constitution of 1871.
What the legit law of the founding fathers established was that it is lawful for anyone to do anything that doesn’t directly hurt anyone else. Even if you claim that pollution causes asthma, which was true before cars got pollution controls, it is no longer true now, under SULEV tech.
So cars are not going away. If oil does, we will distill our own methanol. Many of us are intelligent enough to accept reality and adapt as necessary. If you count yourself among us, then wake up to the true fact that V8s are here for the rest of your natural born life, so you may as well enjoy them. They wouldn’t be so popular if they weren’t useful and fun.
Warm regards,
-Dave S
