What is more reliable is for you to go to your local bank / credit union to exchange your foreign currencies rather than going to ‘an official Redemption Center.’ This is if they will exchange them.
“Be aware that the below videos are by banks who were trying to get currency holders to exchange with them. You would get a higher exchange rate at an official Redemption Center.”
The issue is the verification at a Redemption Center that you would have to jump through hoops as ‘they don’t know you from Adam,’ while if you have been at your local bank / credit union for a while, if not for years, and the employees know you then you should be in and out in about 15 minutes with a faster time getting there, even though it will be at a lower rate.
In the past it has been said that there maybe less than a 100 or up to only 1,000 Redemption Centers in the USA and there maybe even 10 million people exchanging then that would make 10,000 people or more trying to make an appointment to exchange at each of them within a week.
You may have to travel hundreds of miles to get there and much cash in hand to get on an airplane or by vehicle long distances with law enforcement now waiting for the opportunity as civil asset forfeiture is greater.
How many people will be going to jail as they just happen to have foreign currency in hand while traveling? They are not crossing any foreign borders, but maybe only state borders.
Look at the positives and the negatives of your exchanges and the lower rate may be a benefit for you.
