The War Ends at Versailles

The war with Iran is over. Trump signed it at the Palace of Versailles, and the part that matters for the dinar is the rewiring happening underneath the headline.
The signature
On June 17, over dinner with France’s president, President Trump signed the 14-point US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding. President Masoud Pezeshkian signed for Iran. The deal ends military operations on every front, pulls the US naval blockade off Iran’s ports within 30 days, and reopens the Strait of Hormuz at no charge for 60 days. Oil fell under 80 dollars. Iraq is already shipping a million barrels a day.
One catch worth flagging. The 300 billion dollar reconstruction fund named in the text is Gulf-funded, not American, and Trump called that figure false at the G7 the same day. The document and the man who signed it do not quite agree.
The moves underneath
While the cameras watched the signature, Iraq’s own machinery moved:
• Starlink license – approved across Iraq, the digital rail under the central bank’s cashless-by-July push.
• The dollar auction – gone, replaced by US-compliance correspondent banking, with the Federal Reserve approving the supply.
• The oil and gas law (HCL) – lined up for a vote when parliament returns July 1.
• The cabinet – the final nine seats reported close, targeted around June 30.

• The northern cliff – Turkey rejected extending the Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline treaty, which lapses July 27.
• The wildcard – Iran routes Ayatollah Khamenei’s funeral through Najaf and Karbala on July 8.
And the prize underneath all of it. Iraq sits on more than 16 trillion dollars in resources, and the majors are walking back in – Chevron, plus 27 billion from TotalEnergies and 25 billion from BP.
