DIGITAL EURO
The ECB opened a new call for private firms and organisations to join the next wave of its digital euro innovation platform. Merchants, PSPs, fintechs, tech vendors, public bodies and researchers can apply.
Two tracks:
1: experimentation (practical features
and
2: extra services) and exploration (tech that could appear in later releases).
Applications close 17:00 CET, 9 November 2026.
Experimentation is slated for Jan–Jun 2027.
This is official preparatory work for a possible digital euro — not a launch date.
CROSS-BORDER RAILS
The ECB Governing Council’s 24 September assessment of linking TIPS with Brazil’s Pix is underway.
Scope:
technical, operational, legal and business feasibility.

It sits alongside other TIPS interlink studies (Nexus, India UPI, Swiss instant payments).
No live corridor yet.
WHAT THE RECORD SHOWS:
Payment systems are being designed, tested and interlinked. That is measurable plumbing.
WHAT IT DOES NOT SHOW:
No official notice of a worldwide currency revaluation.
No instruction for the public to “run to the bank.”
